The Ego is the Enemy
Today I have an episode based on a book called “Ego is the Enemy” by Ryan Holiday.
And if you’ve never heard the word ego, just to give you a brief definition, it is a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance. Basically, it’s what makes you think of how important you are, how valuable you are. So if the ego gets out of control you might think you’re too valuable, entitled.
This book is all about maintaining the ego in check. Keeping something in check means keeping it at a reasonable level. And Ryan Holiday goes very deep on the subject of how to keep your ego in check, but he also talks a lot about why the ego can really damage our chances of success. And what does success do? Well, it could bring us a fulfilling happier life.
- Ego is that voice inside us that tells us we are special. Better than others. People often want the reward without putting in the necessary work.

- Obtaining the reward through hard work is much more satisfying. Put in the work!
- Learning from mistakes is key. Keep moving forward by not taking mistakes personally.
